Sorry I've been so absent lately. I had a cold for two weeks, now Graah's got it.
And this weekend, my laptop died. I think I'm still in shock. $2200 two years ago and I can't start the mother fracker. I'm off to CompUSA this afternoon to buy an enclosure in the hopes that I can retrieve all my crucial data. Remember, this computer is my form of living, so this is all very freaky to me.
I was planning on buying an iMac this year, but can't afford it yet, so I'm kinda dazed and attempting to figure out the best course of action. I'm going to be borrowing Graah's laptop until I can afford to replace my old comp, but I'm not sure how I'm going to replace all the "softwear."
This is not necessarily a whining session, just a state of the katey union. I may not be on tribe much while I'm attempting to rebuild my empire.
Much love to you all,
~me

Re: Hello my lovelies
Fri, February 2, 2007 - 6:26 PMI do!
So here's the news that I would have posted sooner, but for my frantic attempt to catch up with work....
*UPDATE*
I am taking out a loan with the Bank of MomĀ® and purchasing a new iMac this weekend. I'll be paying her monthly installments for the next year and a half, but the new computer will be in my greedy hands by Monday. I'm not defecting so much as accepting that for my line of work, this is the standard OS, which will make a lot of old headaches disappear.
In addition, the larger screen will probably give my eyes and shoulders a break. littlegraah has been a godsend, but my shoulders and head are killing me from constantly leaning toward the screen to see better.
I should log off now and start getting ready to head to le bayou. Have a wonderful weekend everyone. -

Re: Hello my lovelies
Sat, February 3, 2007 - 2:10 PMI feel for you.
In January, I lost my primary laptop, my external backup drive, and my 8GB travel drive (1" HD thing).
Lost everything I'd done for the past year when the Travel Drive went. The r/w heads scratched the platters. Total Loss. Urk.
Cost 1200 to replace the laptop. Fortunately, CompUSA put the HD from it into an enclosure, so I had some of my data.
Cost 2200 to recover the External HD. Fortunately, about 2/3 of my recent data was there.
Cost 1500 to recover an older drive that went, but it needed to be done, so I did it all at the same time.
And I can't afford any of this, since I'm out of work.
Yikes.
I'm going to upgrade the 'internet' computer to an iMac later this year.
