Damn Anja for talking me into it. But heck, part of the reason I'm hear is to start designing a professional looking website for [and as] my portfolio.
Kathryn is in search of a full time art job. I'm sick of no insurance and tax HELL. I miss the energy of shared deadlines. I can't believe it, but after 6 years, I want back into the office.
So, here I am, trying to teach myself Dreamweaver and CSS over the internets. Could someone please kill me?

Re: CSS might eat my brain.
Sat, June 2, 2007 - 3:30 PMAlexandria says to get off the internets and by the Peachpit Dreamweaver books if you really want to learn about it. Also a program called InDesign from Adobe.
I can understand the desire to work someplace aside one's bedroom, really. Courage! -

Tue, June 5, 2007 - 8:46 AMLove InDesign. Learned to use it in the process of making Graham and Gina's wedding program
darxxide.com/krenta/Segh...Wedding3.pdf (warning, large file)
I'll definitely check out the Peachpit books. Have already ordered the Head First book of HTML, XHTML and CSS. Graah recommended them to me because he's in the middle of their JavaScript book and thought I'd dig their teaching method. I looked at the preview online and I ordered it right away.
Thanks to both you and Alexandria. Hugs, kisses and wishes of face time. -

Head First: HTML with CSS & XHTML:
"Remember the Wizard of Oz? Well, this is where things go from black & white to color."

This book rawks the hizzaus. I'm LOVING IT! Which is probably why I'm studying at 9pm on a weekend. <=0)

Re: A quote...
Tue, June 19, 2007 - 9:05 AMThanks for recommending this book. I looked at it on Safari Online yesterday and the intro totally sums up why I'm having such trouble at my current job. Unfortunately, my bosses do not realize that things can be serious without being boring, adult without being stultifying. Every time I suggest a way I might learn this incredibly hard program (it's a proprietary program that UC puts out so there's no third party documentation), they steer me towards something more restrictive and boring. Every time I suggest a spoonful of sugar to get the boatload of medicine down, they smack the sugar right out of my hand.
